COURSE OVERVIEW
The EHMM course is based on the Handbook on Hazardous Materials Management, developed by the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM). It consists of a comprehensive review of environmental laws and regulations and applicable health requirements. The course is designed to assist individuals with preparation for the CHMM national certification examination administered through IHMM. It does not guarantee passage of the CHMM national certification exam. The EHMM course is accredited by the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Board (CESB), an independent, voluntary organization that recognizes, through specialty certification, the expertise of individuals practicing in engineering and related fields. This course provides instruction on laws and regulations as well as technologies and practices in an overview fashion that highlights and emphasizes what is important for a hazardous materials manager to know and provides essential information for the hazardous materials manager to better conduct their job. This EHMM course is presented in cooperation with the Greater Wisconsin Chapter of the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers (GWC-ACHMM) headquarters in Madison, Wisconsin and is taught by members of the chapter who are highly experienced in the topics they present. This course is also available as a corporate training program. It is endorsed by the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers and the United States Department of Energy's National Environmental Training Office.
CERTIFICATION BACKGROUND
The Institute of Hazardous Materials Managers (IHMM) implements the exam for certification; IHMM was established to provide a certification process for a level of expertise for managers working in the field of hazardous materials management. The certification administered by the Institute has long been known as the premier accreditation for the Hazardous Materials industry.
The Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers (ACHMM) is the alumni association for those who have passed the certification exam. It is a fraternal organization whose purpose is to promote the CHMM credential and provide services to its members.
