Wisconsin Companies Honored for Safety Excellence
Seventeen Companies and Three Individuals Receive Safety Awards

Wisconsin Dells, WI, May 20, 2009—Seventeen Wisconsin companies were awarded a Wisconsin Corporate Safety Award in recognition of workplace safety and health excellence, and three individuals were honored as part of the Wisconsin Safety Council’s 67th Annual Safety and Health Congress & Expo at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells on May 19.

The Wisconsin Corporate Safety Awards are co-sponsored by the Wisconsin Safety Council and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. The 15th annual awards program honors businesses for exemplary safety records and excellence in health and safety management.

"All seventeen companies and three individuals place a high priority on safety and health,” said Bryan Roessler, director of the Wisconsin Safety Council. “The strength of the companies being honored this year is a testament to Wisconsin’s ability to be a leader in safety and health.”

In all, 17 businesses and three individuals received honors at the awards program. An independent panel of 48 judges, including leaders in business, health and safety, evaluated the 155 nominations based on injury incidence rates over the last three years, health and safety procedures, policies and accomplishments.
