POSITION:
Loss Control Representative in the Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, area.
POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Provide a high level of loss control service to assist customers of Pekin Insurance in loss reduction and loss avoidance. To provide underwriting with account information to enable them to properly price and select accounts. Assist our sales agents in obtaining and retention of quality accounts.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides loss control services to customers by conducting safety surveys, analyzing risk experience, and assisting insureds in improving loss control programs.
- Works with customer’s management to provide comprehensive and sophisticated loss control consultative services.
- Consults with customers on ways to control hazards in order to reduce or prevent losses and influences customers to implement recommendations. Continuously demonstrates the value of doing business with Pekin Insurance.
- Manage workload within an assigned territory by effectively prioritize, plan and schedule work. Utilize technology resources for maximum efficiency. Respond to customer requests in a timely manner.
- Provides underwriting with technical loss control survey reports and recommendations that will enable them to properly select and price accounts.
- Maintains effective relationships with sales agents, underwriting, and claims.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in safety management, occupational safety, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in loss control, risk management, or occupational safety.
- Possess a strong understanding of Property and Casualty insurance.
- Demonstrated success in providing training presentations for large groups.

Job Title: Safety & Loss Control Consultant
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide consultation services including safety training, safety and loss control inspections, loss history evaluations, and program development to medium and large size commercial policyholders.
- Assist the commercial lines underwriting process by evaluating client operations, risks and controls. This includes safety and loss control pre-surveys of large commercial prospects and annual surveys of existing accounts.
- Prepare technical safety and loss control reports, develop appropriate safety and loss control recommendations, and issue recommendation letters to policyholders.
- Provide technical training and guidance to agents and underwriting staff on safety and loss control topics.

EHS Specialist
Responsibilities:

Environmental Health, Safety and Risk Specialist
Edgewood College
This position has three areas of primary responsibility for faculty, staff, and students they are: to promote environmental health; to promote occupational safety; to inspect and assess any risks, control hazards and reduce injuries and illnesses in the workplace.
Responsibilities:
1. Occupational Safety and Risk Management – Conducts risk assessments to identify workplace risks and hazards in order to control, reduce and eliminate occupation hazards and risks.
- Conduct and identify risks and hazards throughout the College.
- Develop procedures in order to prevent health or safety issues
- Consult with faculty, staff and administration on a wide variety of safety issues/concerns, policy violations, development of policies.
- Review workstation set-ups to make sure the college is actively creating a work environment conducive to productive and effective work. Conduct ergonomic evaluations as needed.
- Develop plan and timeline to evaluate indoor air quality.
- Develop plan and timeline of potential future asbestos removal areas. Collaborate with facilities on any facility remodels that could be areas with asbestos to be removed. Inspect and monitor asbestos-containing materials in college buildings. Document abatement and maintain records.
- Walk through college buildings to conduct risk assessments on a regular basis. Timeline developed and calendar be created to make sure inspections are conducted. Respond to life safety issues and codes.
- Conduct and/or coordinate with Fire Department the bi-annual fire inspections. Collaborate with facilities to prevent violations of the fire code. Investigate incidents related to fire safety or personal injury to develop prevention and mitigation measures.
- Develop, review and implement programs/procedures to meet OSHA, EPA/WDNR, Madison Fire Code, and additional applicable federal, state and local regulations and requirements.
- Ensure that internal and external EH&S reporting requirements are met.
- Provide technical and professional support regarding applicable EH&S regulations and issues.
- Lead efforts to ensure regulatory compliance via auditing processes and risk analysis.
- Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with College administration, faculty, staff, students and contractors.
2. Environmental Health - Review compliance and best practices on an on-going basis. Participate as a leading member of the Campus Sustainability Coordinating Team (CSCT). Act as the primary liaison for EPA/WDNR compliance audits.
- Develop, review and audit the Environmental Management System (EMS) in conjunction with the CSCT.
- Coordinate requirements with the WDNR to maintain the College’s Green Tier status.
- Assist the CSCT with completing the annual Green Tier report to WDNR.
- Maintain the EPA calendar to provide on-going assistance for audit compliance.
- Establish monitor and document proper waste handling procedures for hazardous wastes and special wastes (batteries, PCBs, e-waste, bio-waste, etc.)
- Conduct an annual air emissions inventory and include in the calendar of activities
- Review and update the Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Plan annually.
- Develop, implement and monitor environmental, safety and emergency procedures training.
- Develop, conduct, and track safety training for the various positions based on work tasks for new employees and keep up-to-date with current employees.
- Conduct and/or coordinate training for environmental compliance on an initial and annual basis for faculty, staff.
- Provide training for incident responder’s procedures, CPR/AED certification and emergency drills. Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with College administration, faculty, staff, students and contractors.
3. Outreach, Training and Consultation –Complete general administrative duties.
- Develop proactive procedures related to environmental and occupational health and safety.
- Lead and/or participate in pertinent task forces and committees as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Technical expertise on occupational safety, environmental/and or ergonomic issues, and risk assessment
- Knowledge of Environmental Protection Act (EPA) required
- Knowledge of regulations on local, state, and federal regulations preferred
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OSHA)
- Leadership skills – process improvement, sense of urgency, ability to plan, think critically and creatively.
- Ability to be a project leader for committees or task forces that could lead to improving the college’s environment for health and safety issues.
- Excellent written, oral communication skills to include making presentations applicable to the particular audience
- Ability to work with a wide range of groups or individuals. Understand cultural differences and how that may impact how you do your work.
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of environmental & occupational health and safety

Necessary Education or Work Experience:

- Five years of advisory or consultative experience

SCOPE OF JOB:
This associate actively leads the efforts in safety, health and environmental and will act as a resource to all teams and associates at both the Taylor & Merrillan, WI facilities. Ensure that Atlas complies with all regulations and environmental measures by acting as a liaison among all SH&E agencies and Atlas Resin Proppants. Responsibilities include maintaining, tracking, and improving SH&E through effective use of ARP’s Safety program.

- Provides alignment between ARP’s Vision and Values and the Plant-based Safety Teams.
- Develop and implement a corporate-wide environmental/safety management program.
